Problem
Customs rules are fragmented across dozens of government websites and languages — travelers can't easily tell restricted from prohibited items, and duty estimates assume Harmonized System expertise most people don't have.
Approach
Designed and built a plain-language customs guidance platform: country-by-country guides, item-category rules, a duty-estimate calculator, document tracking, and a traveler dashboard — a server-rendered Next.js application structured for SEO and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, on a typed monorepo with a NestJS API and PostgreSQL data layer.
Result / status
A live public platform at customscompass.com that consolidates fragmented customs information into calm, actionable guidance for travelers and import/export teams.
Client type
